Learn ways to achieve stunning colour effects through reduction firing in a saggar chamber with electric kilns.
Explore techniques to enhance the smoky quality of colour fuming and metallic effects.
All levels welcome. Bring 10-15 small very smooth, bone dry pieces ready to polish and decorate with coloured terra sigillata.
( Sculpture, hand built or thrown ) A fine white porcelain, stoneware or earthenware clay works best. Round, convex nearly closed or bowl forms work well too.
Bring hache brushes and decorating tools, copper wire, copper tape and metallic pigments. Silver and gold leaf may be purchased from the course instructor.

Part 1 : Applying Terra Sig, Tues Sept 20, 2011 from 4:30 pm-6:30 pm.
Part 2 : Loading the Kiln, Tues Sept 27 from 4:30 pm-6:30 pm.
The cost of both workshops is $ 150. Part 1 is $ 60. Part 2 is $ 90.

Alison Brannen is a ceramic artist living and working in Toronto. Trained as a printmaker Alison has an MFA from the University of New Mexico. Alison teaches ceramics and sculpture at Rosedale Heights School of the Arts. She is a member of Fusion and Toronto Potters.
